In Kantar Media’s TGI survey, 80% of respondents said that they can remember seeing or reading advertising mail sent to them in the last 4 weeks2.
  3. Print is trustworthy
Between 7 and 8 out of 10 people think print is twice as trustworthy as its closest rival- email- as well as providing better personalisation and content than any other medium3.
  4. Print is sustainable
Three to four trees are replanted for every one tree logged in managed forests. European Forests have actually grown by 30% since 19504.
  5. Print increases ROI
A BrandScience analysis of 500+ European cases shows that, in case of FMCG, TV’s ROI increased with 61% when used in combination with print advertising and 57% with the combination of TV and print media.

5 Tips Enhance Improve Printed Collateral Materials

5 ways to enhance your printed marketing materials

Successful businesses understand that effective marketing collateral can help:

  • Create a more established image of your business;
  • Attract more clients;
  • Build a stronger brand; and
  • Make your business more memorable.

Here are our top five tips for improving your printed marketing collateral:

  1. Consistent branding – It is important to have a flow throughout your marketing materials. If the colour scheme of your website is green and grey, you shouldn’t have a red brochure as this would create confusion.
  2. Great imagery – The old saying that ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ is certainly true when we think of design. One image can often have a greater impact than a full page of text.
  3. Specialty Paper- you can easily improve your marketing collateral by using speciality materials. Textured papers can really enhance the sensual nature of your printed collateral and thus make your brand more memorable.
  4. Unusual Imprints– Foil stamping, for instance, is a simple way to make your marketing materials appear more expensive and luxurious, without spending a lot of extra money.
  5. Digital interaction – QR codes can incorporate digital elements into your printed collateral.  Audiences can use their smartphones to scan a QR code on your marketing materials to access your website, email or social media account.

Next time you commission printed marketing materials, try incorporating some of the above tips to enhance your collateral and stand out from the competition.

5 Print Trends for 2018

At Positive we always like to look ahead.  Here are our top 5 print, design and marketing predictions for 2018:-

1. Unexpected Colour Palettes

According to the Pantone Colour Institute, designers in the UK are introducing more unusual colours and colour stories into their Spring 2018 collections.  With 12 call out shades and 4 seasonal classics, Pantone’s Spring 2018  Colour Palette is ideal for more unique and dramatic colour mixing.

 2. GDPR Compliance

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years.  GDPR is designed to revise the collection, use and retention of personal data.   The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has produced a handy 12 Steps to Take Now guide in order to help marketing departments meet the 25 May 2018 deadline.

3. Direct Mail Resurgence

Under GDPR “You won’t need consent for postal marketing, but you will need consent for some calls and for texts and emails under PECR”, says the ICO.  With mail having less regulatory restrictions than other channels, we expect direct mail to grow in 2018.  Royal Mail’s GDPR Opportunity with Mail lists12 ways mail could help your organisation thrive in a GDPR world.

4. Personalisation

According to McKinsey & Company, personalisation can deliver five to eight times the ROI on marketing spend, and can lift sales by 10% or more.  So it is no surprise that brands are taking personalisation very seriously.   Hubspot examine 7 brands that take personalisation to another level.

5. Multichannel Marketing

“Multichannel customers spend three to four times more than single-channel customers do”, says SAS, a leader in business analytics.  And as the number of marketing channels continues to rise – and they will – the need to embrace multichannel marketing will become not only a good idea, but a critical one.

At Positive we provide the full range of print, direct mail and marketing services. Our multichannel marketing solution can enable your team to publish powerful, personalised and measurable campaigns across multiple channels.

5 Advantages of Digital Printing

Digital printing refers to modern printing methods that use digital files instead of printing plates. There are a number of advantages to using digital imaging services  over more traditional printing methods. The main advantages of digital print are:-

1.Personalisation & Variable data– Variable Data Printing (VDP) allows for the customisation of individual graphics or text on a print by print basis. Every impression on the paper can be different, making digital ideal for personalised direct mail campaigns. A lot of business use digital printing to help with their business advertising. If this is something that interests you then you might want to take a look at something like spectra integration who can offer you this service.

2.Speed- digital is the perfect option if you need something turned around very fast. Unlike lithographic printing, there is no need to prepare plates so only minimal set-up time is required.

3.Quality– digital technology has improved significantly over recent years. HP Indigo’s Liquid ElectroInk Process (LEP) process matches and at times surpasses traditional offset (lithographic) printing and exceeds competing digital printing technologies.

4.Versatility- digital print is very versatile. HP Indigo printers have the largest media range, enabling printing on over 3,000 certified substrates, including synthetics, darks and metallics.

5.Value– as digital printing is so quick to set up there are minimal set up costs. It therefore offers exceptional value, especially for shorter print runs.

National Gallery Case Study

The National Gallery utilised digital print technology to produce a high quality book (pictured) to commemorate an exhibition of newly acquired Titian paintings .

The books were available for sale within one week, compared to 6-12 week lead-time required for traditional offset (lithographic) printing. The Indigo solution delivered a far more effective and lower-cost solution, without any loss of quality.
